We stayed at House Dublin, just a little southeast of St. Stephen's Green park. This was a good location. We were warned, multiple times before, that it was loud. They even noted with an email before warning us of the every night late night bar and nightclub on the weekends. We stayed Monday to Friday nights, so one weekend night. We were on the 1st floor (with a ground floor below; it would be our 2nd floor in the US), so very close to the action. We had no issues. Travis woke up about 2am on Friday night/Saturday morning and could hear some music thumping. However, he said that it was not so bothersome to keep him awake. I was worried because we had a Thanksgiving experience at a Days Inn in College Station where the people next to us starting blaring bass in the room next to us about 1am and woke us up. I could not go back to sleep; it was bad! So, very happy that this hotel was good for sleep.
Pictures of our room.
Pros:
- Good location
- Good price
- Room was ready when we arrived early, about noon, though published check-in at 3pm; we originally went at this time just to drop off our luggage for storage.
- Roomy room
- Our room, 11, was quiet despite warnings.
- Requested an extra pillow and towel. We did get an extra pillow; it is annoying that hotels these days only give one pillow per person. We like two each. The extra towel was actually just one towel being bigger. I like any extra hair towel, but the bigger towel did help some.
- Stored our luggage while we explored the last day.
- Had British and European outlets. I only expected the British, so I did not bring our extra European plug adapter.
- The towel warmer was awesome for drying sink washed laundry and the towels.
- Nice thick drapes for darkness and quiet for sleeping.
- Room cleaned everyday.
- Complimentary still and sparkling waters bottles everyday.
- Tea and kettle provided.
Cons:
- Bathroom was small with very small shower that had no place to put anything.
- Shower water was super hot the first day, but then we figured it out.
- The sink had a separate hot and cold taps that I have not seen since the Trafalgar Hotel in London in 1996. Hard to mix, so hot gets very hot.
- The bathroom always had a smell. The door did not stay open, so we did not try to air it out.
- Both the room and bathroom were dark; the room only when it got dark outside. Like camping, get done what you want before it gets dark.
